Umphrey’s McGee fans were treated to a highly unconventional set last night at Camp Bisco. As previously reported, bassist Ryan Stasik was unable to make the performance because “the newest member of the Stasik family decided she wanted to come a little early.” However Umphreys were determined to have the show go on in style, so the always creative group invited a few friends to take turns helping them out during their show.

The first guest was STS9 bassist David Murphy, who took the stage for “Wappy Sprayberry,” a dubbed out rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Breathe” and “The Triple Wide.” Next came the Disco Biscuits’ Marc Brownstein, who made his appearance on “In The Kitchen” and “Partyin’ Peeps.” Brownie and Umphrey’s were then joined by Disco Biscuits guitarist Jon Gutwillig for a take on the Biscuits classic “Home Again.”

The final guest bassist was Joel Cummins and Kris Meyers’ Digital Tape Machine collaborator Bryan Doherty, who performed on “The Linear” before the Disco Biscuits’ Aron Magner joined the fray for for a set closing “Booth Love.” In another interesting move, that song also featured Magner and Joel Cummins on keytar.

Camp Bisco continues tomorrow with performances by the Disco Biscuits, Lotus, Thievery Corporation and more.
