It looks like the String Cheese Incident will be the next band to dip their toes into the resort festival waters. The group just announced the “International Incident Riviera Maya,” which is set to take place at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico February 19-23, 2014. The event will feature three nights of the String Cheese Incident, as well as performances by some of their “SCIde” projects and some more artists, who have not yet been announced.

Packages for the International Incident Riviera Maya will go on sale Thursday, September 12, with starting prices of $1,499. The packages include entry to the event, as well as all the amenities of the five star all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel in addition to a variety of exclusive services and experiences.

More information on the International Incident Riviera Maya will be revealed in the near future. SCI were one of the first bands to organize their own international destination events almost 15 years ago but they have not performed outside the US or Canada since a 2004 appearance in Interlaken, Switzerland.

As previously reported, Furthur recently announced Paradise Waits, while Gov’t Mule and Widespread Panic have also been putting on similar resort festivals the past couple years. Yonder Mountain String Band have also been teaming up with a number of other bands for Strings & Sol, while STS9, Umphrey’s McGee and The Disco Biscuits have been joining forces for their annual Mayan Holidaze.
