Tim O’ Brien and Darrell Scott: Memories & Moments

Roots music titans Tim O’Brien and Darrell Scott have reunited for their second LP Memories & Moments, set for a September 17 release from the Full Skies imprint. The album will comprise five songs from each multi-instrumentalist, along with covers of Hank Williams, George Jones and John Prine and a collaborative song. The duo originally combined forces in 2000 with Real Time and hit the road whenever time allowed. Produced solely by the two, the album was completed in only three days and features environmental conscious tracks “Keep Your Dirty Lights On,” and Prine’s “Paradise.” No tour dates have been announced yet, but the two “have set aside a year, starting in late September.” The duo have also raised almost $32,000 to support their project through Kickstarter.

Why would 2 songwriters that have penned songs for the likes of Garth Brooks, The Dixie Chicks and Travis Tritt need a Kickstarter Campaign??

CFO, You ask a good question. I listened to a public radio show last week that had Spike Lee discussing his kickstarter campaign for a new project. When asked why he would need such a thing, he rationalized it; but, he still did not say why. No offense to the artists.

A: There are people out there who are willing to support the arts. B: Its less money they may have to owe to a record company (remember those?) once the project is in the can. C: Despite what you think these dudes have mortgages, kids, bills, etc. too.
