STS9’s David Murphy and Jeffrey Lerner Join Umphrey’s McGee for Another Pink Floyd Cover

STS9 bassist David Murphy and percussionist Jeffree Lerner sat in with Umphrey’s McGee for a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Breathe” last night during their co-headlining gig at Riverfront Park in Nashville. Murphy took the place of Umphrey’s bassist Ryan Stasik for the song, which came toward the end of the band’s set. The show also included the third-ever performance of “Cut The Cable,” with the tune sandwiched between “Intentions Clear” and “Hajimemashite.”

Murphy is no stranger to the music of Pink Floyd, as the bassist has played with cover band Pigs On The Wing on numerous occasions.

this youtube video sounds more like Umphrey’s McGee covering a Soundcheck Section 4 song….. thought they were better than that…

Why is this news? August 26, 2013, 09:07:13

Why is this news??? Both STS9 and UM play a ton of Pink Floyd so this is headlining news that they played “Breathe”. OMG.

STS9 is for tool-bags. you being the king of them, Branderson. plenty of bands can play 2 notes on four beats for their whole concert to a bunch of drug addled losers better than them…..

While I agree this isn’t much of news; STS9 doesn’t “play a ton of Pink Floyd”. Yeah Murph is in Pigs on the Wing but I can’t think of any covers STS9 has done of Floyd in the last 4 years and if memory serves me throughout most of their career. Jus sayin’. Best cover I’ve heard so far was Let’s Dance with Phipps. Haha Bring the heat to Boston!
