Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canning has announced his first round of solo shows for the fall. He will be hitting the road in support of his second solo album, You Gots 2 Chill, which will be released on October 1 via SQE. Canning will perform at Pop Montreal on September 27 before heading to Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Arlington, VA.

2013 has been a busy year for Canning, despite the fact that Broken Social Scene are in the midst of an indefinite hiatus. He’s spent the last year working on some other projects like his pre-BSS indie-pop outfit Cookie Duster and the soundtrack to the Brett Easton Ellis-penned film The Canyons. Canning is also currently working on original music for an augmented reality/film project for the Toronto Film Festival.

You Gots 2 Chill feels, in many ways, like Canning’s first true solo effort, as it lacks the stacked guest list of his previous album, Something For All of Us. The album was recorded without the help of Broken Social Scene, and Canning even designed his own cover arts and launched his own independent label to release the record in Canada.

“Plugged In,” the first single off of Canning’s new album, can be downloaded below.
