Gov’t Mule will release Shout! on September 24. Last night at New York’s Best Buy Theater, the band welcomed a few old friends to help them out on some brand new songs. Singers Alecia Chakour and Nigel Hall, of The Warren Haynes Band, joined Mule to run through “Stoop So Low” for the very first time. Chakour also returned for the encore for the classic “Soulshine.” Another longtime Mule collaborator, Hook Herrera, took the stage during the encore to lend his harmonica to “Mother Earth” and “How Many More Years” to close the show.

As far as Shout! tracks are concerned, Mule also played “Forsaken Savior” for the first time. “No Reward,” “Scared to Live,” “World Boss,” “Captured,” and “Whisper In Your Soul” also found their way into the setlist. Gov’t Mule’s tour continues tonight in Pittsburgh, PA at Stage AE.
