USPS Will Honor Ray Charles with a Stamp Series

The U.S. Postal Service honored the late soul legend Ray Charles with his very own stamp, as a part of the “Music Icons Forever” stamp series. The USPS made the stamp available today and events are currently being planned in Atlanta and Los Angeles to celebrate Charles’ inclusion in the series. R&B singer Ashanti and the Morehouse College Glee Club are scheduled to perform at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center. Chaka Khan will also headline an event at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.

This announcement comes on the heels of the collaborative album Ray Charles Forever which features remixed and remastered versions of some of Ray’s classic hits and the previously unreleased “They Can’t Take That Away From Me.”
