My Morning Jacket brought out some special guests for a few choice covers yesterday during their headlining performance at the CBGB Festival in Times Square.

The band were joined by Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard, tUnE-yArDs’ Merrill Garbus and the Antibalas Horns for a take on Fela Kuti’s “Trouble Sleep Yanga Wake Am,” a tune that they all recorded for the new Red Hot + Fela benefit album. The group also played the song the previous night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Jakob Dylan and the Antibalas Horns also sat in with My Morning Jacket later in their set for a cover of The Band’s arrangement of “Don’t Do It.” The song took on extra meaning considering Dylan’s history with The Band, who played with his father Bob Dylan during the ’60s and ’70s. (Dylan and My Morning Jacket also both paid tribute to The Band during last year’s Love for Levon concert.) The Antibalas Horns stuck around for a show-closing take on “One Big Holiday.”

Dylan was at the CBGB Festival with his band The Wallflowers, who played a set earlier in the afternoon. The group also busted out some covers of their own, performing takes on The Box Tops’ “The Letter,” Elvis Costello’s “Peace, Love and Understanding” and The Rolling Stones’ “Loving Cup.”

The CBGB Festival will tale place in clubs across New York City this weekend. Yesterday’s free event in Times Square also featured sets from Grizzly Bear, James Murphy and more. Murphy opened his DJ set, appropriately enough, with by spinning “New York Groove.”
