The L.A. Philharmonic will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall on October 23 with the world premiere of Frank Zappa’s 200 Motels. Along with the L.A. Philharmonic led by Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen, members of Zappa’s past projects will form the band to recreate the music. Ian Underwood of Zappa’s The Mothers of Invention, Zappa bassist Scott Thunes, Zappa Family Trust “Vaultmeister” Joe Travers and Jamie Kime of Zappa Plays Zappa will all play alongside the L.A. Philharmonic.
