Bob Marley, John Lennon Make Forbes’ Top Earning Dead Celebrities List
Forbes released their annual Top-Earning Dead Celebrities list for 2013. Michael Jackson tops the list, amassing over $160 million. For comparison, Madonna was 2013’s top earning celebrity with $125 million. This marks the third time in the past five years that the top-earning celebrity in the world has come from someone who wasn’t living.
A few more musicians made the list as well, including the late Bob Marley ($18 million) as well as John Lennon who earned about $12 million last year. Marley’s recent ventures include the Marley Beverage company, home to Marley’s Mellow Mood, as well as eco-friendly audio and lifestyles company, House of Marley. The Lennon estate continues to share in The Beatles’ spoils, with over 63 million albums sold since 1992, in addition to The Beatles-themed Cirque du Soleil show Love! in Las Vegas.
