Capitol Theatre to Host Wetlands Preserve 25th Anniversary Shows

The Capitol Theatre will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening of Wetlands Preserve on February 7 and 8, 2014. No artists have been announced for the event, but the lineup will be revealed next week.

Wetlands Preserve was the center of the New York City jamband scene throughout the 1990’s. The Capitol Theatre is currently owned by Relix/ Jambands.com publisher Peter Shapiro, who was the proprietor of Wetlands Preserve from 1997 to 2001, when the club shut its doors.

Lost spirit November 8, 2013, 02:04:45

It’s a shame that Shapiro lost the spirit that was the wetlands. Progressive/activist music venue that gave new artists a chance, no matter what genre. Instead it is a high price ticket and venues to line their pockets. Long live the real wetlands preserve. A true venue of inspiration if there ever was one.

I really hope they announce a super incredible lineup for this event commemorating such an amazing venue with ALL Wetlands alumni! Something like this:
~~~
Phish, RatDog, Mickey Hart & Planet Drum, Robert Hunter, SCI, WSP, Disco Biscuits, Gov’t Mule, Flaming Lips, Blues Traveler, Moe, Leftover Salmon, Steve Kimock, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Jazz Is Dead, Spin Doctors, The Roots, Greyboy AllStars, Deep Banana Blackout, Galactic, Soulive, Oteil and the Peacemakers, Zen Tricksters, New Potato Caboose, Buckethead, 311, Ekoostik Hookah, Ozric Tentacles, Fishbone, Keller Williams, Ani DeFranco, Lettuce, Medeski Martin & Wood, Rage Against The Machine, Big Wu, Dark Star Orchestra~~~
HOW AWESOME WOULD THAT BE? Maybe turn it into a week-long residency…!! Food for thought, Shapiro! ;)
