Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore will host a residency at saxophonist John Zorn’s New York art space The Stone from December 31-January 5. His residency will feature collaborations with Zorn, bassist Mike Watt, Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Renaldo and many other musicians. Moore will also play an intimate show with his current project, Chelsea Light Moving. Sonic Youth have been on hiatus for over two years following Moore’s divorce from Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon. Before his residency begins, Moore will appear at The Stone as part of John Zorn Improv Night on December 29. That evening will also feature Mary Halvorson (guitar), James Ilgenfritz (bass), Joe Morris (guitar), Okkyung Lee (cello), Erik Friedlander (cello), Jay Campbell (cello), Pauline Kim (violin), Brian Chase (drums) and Craig Taborn (piano).
