Eddie Roberts Trio performed at New Orleans’ Maple Leaf last night as part of the New Mastersounds guitarist’s month-long residency at the club. This incarnation of the trio included Roberts, keyboardist Ike Stubblefield and drummer Jermal Watson. Tenor saxophonist James Martin—who used to play with Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue— sat in for a couple of songs during the first set. New Orleans transplant Nigel Hall also sat in during the first set, when he and Stubblefield played the Hammond B3 at the same time, with Hall playing the bottom and Stubblefield playing the top of the instrument.

A few special guests took the stage during Roberts’ second set, too: Khris Royal joined them for the first part of the set, Hall returned for another jam and Martin sat in for the second half of the segment.
