The Trombone Shorty Foundation has announced that this year’s Shorty Fest concert will take place on May 1 at New Orleans’ Generations Hall during the second weekend of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. While Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue will headline, the jam-packed event will aim to highlight emerging young talent and will include a performance by students participating in the Trombone Shorty Academy music performance program. The bill will also include The Soul Rebels, Roosevelt Collier, New Breed Brass Band and a “Young Guns Blues Showdown,” which will feature 10-year-old guitar prodigy Brandon “Taz” Niederauer.

The Trombone Shorty Foundation is an organization that partners with Tulane University to educate young musicians and help launch careers in music. Proceeds from the evening—which will feature three stages of music—will benefit the foundation.

Tickets for the event are now on sale.
