The United State Postal Service will begin priniting a number of celebrity postage stamps over the course of the next few years, including a few that will feature the likenesses of a variety of iconic musicians. This year will see the creation of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin stamps, while John Lennon, Sam Cooke, Jim Morrison, Bill Monroe, Roy Orbison, Willie Dixon, Tammy Wynette, Freddie Fender, Fats Waller and Sarah Vaughn are all set to get their own stamps some time in the future as part of the USPS’ Music Icons series. Michael Jackson will also be getting a stamp, though it will not be part of the series.

As previously reported, last year saw the printing of stamps honoring Johnny Cash and Ray Charles.
