David Byrne and Special Guests to Play The Tonight Show

This week on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon will welcome David Byrne on April 29 along with some unannounced special guests, according to music booker Jonathan Cohen.

Byrne will likely perform a selection from ATOMIC BOMB! The Music of William Onyeabor. The Talking Heads’ founder will take part in an all-star tribute to the elusive Nigerian synth-funk pioneer at Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Academy of Music on May 2 and 3. Other confirmed performers—who may also join Byrne during his late-night appearance—include musical director Ahmed Gallab (Sinkane), Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem), Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Luke Jenner (the Rapture), Devonté Hynes (Blood Orange), the Lijadu Sisters and Joshua Redman.

The Tonight Show program’s other musical guests this week include Keith Urban, The Both and CHVRCHES. Bands such as KISS, Stevie Nicks, Cat Stevens, Billy Joel, Nickel Creek, Passenger, The National and more have performed on “the classic The Tonight Show since Fallon took over as host earlier this year. Fallon even transformed his former Late Night studio into a concert hall for KISS to perform a few tunes.
