Billy Joel celebrated his 65th birthday last night with a show at Madison Square Garden, continuing his lifetime residency at the famed arena. With celebrities in the house joining Joel for his birthday, he managed to incorporate them into the show as Howard Stern (who helped Joel launch his Sirius XM channel earlier this month) introduced the Piano Man to start the show, even leading the crowd in “Happy Birthday.”

After the first few songs stuck to the blueprint from the ones before it, The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon jumped on stage to perform “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” as a duet with Joel. The two performed the song in March when Joel was a guest on The Tonight Show.

As the song ended and Jimmy ditched his coat to reveal the striped jacket underneath, The Ragtime Gals joined him (members of Fallon’s writing team) to do Inner Circle’s “Sweat” in a barbershop quartet style. Fallon then once again led the Garden in “Happy Birthday” before exiting.

The rest of the twenty three-song set included a variety of Joel’s hits and closed with another guest spot, this time from Gavin DeGraw, on “You May Be Right.”
