Much like Boyd Tinsley did during the band’s last Capitol Theatre run, Nels Cline played the role of special guest for the show—sitting in with Phil Lesh & Friends for the entire second set. Lesh and Cline were also joined by previously announced Friends John Scofield, John Kadlecik, John Medeski and Joe Russo.

The Wilco guitarist and Lesh collaborated for a seamless set that centered around “Dark Star” and included performances of “Scarlet Begonias,” “St. Stephen,” “Morning Dew” and “Fire on the Mountain.”

Ross James also played the first set with the band, switching out for Cline during the second set. Next up for Lesh & Friends is another show at the Capitol Theatre tonight and a second show at Rumsey Playfield on Saturday.
