Umphrey’s McGee keyboardist Joel Cummins was joined by The String Cheese Incident percussionist Jason Hann, Digital Tape Machine guitarist Marcus Rezak, Lettuce bassist Erick “Jesus” Coomes and drummer Tyler Coomes last night at the at St. Rocke in Hermosa Beach, CA. Cummins, who was at the venue celebrating the release of Umphrey’s McGee’s new album Similar Skin, started off his set with a solo rendition of “Orefeo.” Hann and Rezak then took the stage for takes two more Umphrey’s originals—“Glory” and “Booth Love”—before the Coomes brothers joined the fray for a series of improv jams, including one based around the music of D’Angelo.
