New York bar Hifi—where My Morning Jacket played their first New York show and Ryan Adams, Interpol, Jesse Malin and many others played early seminal gigs when the venue was known as Brownie—has started to host live music for the first time in 12 years. The bar will present a range of acoustic shows, comedy acts, book readings and electric performances with drums in the coming weeks. The music will take place in Hifi’s recently renovated back space. The club has also broadened its DJ offerings with a variety of new residencies.

This evening Dylan In The ’80s producer Jesse Lauter will host his new DJ Thursday night weekly gig at the space. Dubbed “Uncle Jesse Wants You Back,” the evening will present a mix of soul, funk, reggae, classic rock and “feel good music.”

Lauter has also worked with The Low Anthem, Elvis Perkins, Langhorne Slim, Ingrid Michaelson, Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), James Blood Ulmer, Blind Pilot, Marco Benevento, Yellowbirds, Diego Garcia, The Melodic, Ian Axel (A Great Big World), Alela Diane, Ivan & Alyosha, Bobby Long, Surprise Me Mr. Davis (Nathan Moore & The Slip), Pete Francis (Dispatch), Dawes and Scott Litt (Producer-REM, Nirvana), among others.
