The Disco Biscuits got some help from the Rhythm Devils two nights ahead of schedule when Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann joined the band for the entirety of their second set last night at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. The pair, who are scheduled to perform the Biscuits tomorrow night at Gathering of the Vibes, took the stage just as the clock rolled over to August 1, marking the 72nd birthday of Jerry Garcia. The group got started with “M.E.M.P.H.I.S.” before going into the Grateful Dead’s “West L.A. Fadeaway” and “Shakedown Street.” The band’s first-ever cover of James Brown’s “I Don’t Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing” was then followed by “Eyes of the World” and the improv vehicles “Space” and “Drums.” The Disco Biscuits original “Caterpillar” finally wrapped up the set before Big Gigantic drummer Jeremy Salken joined the fray for an “I Know You Rider” encore.

The Disco Biscuits will return to the stage tonight when they wrap up their two-night stand at the 9:30 Club. According to the official poster below, it appears that Hart and Kreutzmann will be joining the band for that show as well.
