Yesterday we spoke with Gregg Allman at a ceremony honoring the launch of Syracuse University’s new Allman/Lehman Endowed Scholarship. When asked if the Allman Brothers Band had reached out to former guitarist Dickey Betts about sitting in with the group during their final run at The Beacon Theatre, the ABB co-founder and lead singer told us, “Dickey is in the middle of a hunting trip. Of course we reached out.“

Betts’ manager David Spero disputes that claim and in a phone call with Jambands.com explained that Betts was never asked to participate in this final run of shows.
