Umphrey’s McGee headlined Saturday night at Bear Creek and welcomed out a variety of special guests throughout their one-set performance.

As he has throughout the weekend, 11-year-old prodigy guitarist Brandon Niederauer sat in once again, marking his first appearance with Umphrey’s McGee. Niederauer, along with the Lettuce horns of Eric Bloom and Ryan Zoidis, collaborated with the band on an extended version of “Booth Love.” Niederauer would exit following the performance.

Following “Booth Love,” The New Mastersounds’ Simon Allen replaced Kris Myers on drums as the UM drummer took to the mic to handle lead vocals on Huey Lewis and the News’ “Power of Love.” Zoidis and Bloom also remained on stage for the performance. The tune was an Umphrey’s debut.

Prior to the “Mulche’s Odyssey” closer, trumpet player Nicholas Payton joined the band for “Day Nurse.” Payton was at the festival performing with his jazz trio.

Next up for Umphrey’s is a slot at the Dominican Holidaze festival before the band hits the stage for their landmark five-night run at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA over the New Year’s holiday.
