Gary Clark Jr. will open up for the Foo Fighters on select dates of their upcoming tour in support of their latest, Sonic Highways. The guitarist will make an appearance beginning on July 4 for the band’s 20th anniversary blowout at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. Clark will then jump on the road on a more consistent basis in September when the Foos play out west.

In a statement, the Foo Fighter said, “We are so, so psyched to announced Gary Clark Jr. has been added to all the Sept/Oct shows!” Clark also responded saying that he was “excited and honored” to be able to share the stage with the band.

Clark was featured in the Austin, TX episode of Dave Grohl’s HBO series and played guitar on the band’s “What Did I Do?/God As My Witness.”
