As promised, Umphrey’s McGee were joined by their friend Joshua Redman for much of last night’s show at the majestic Beacon Theatre in New York City. The saxophonist extraordinaire made his first appearance during the second half of set one, when he sat in for “Similar Skin” > “End of the Road” and “Hurt Bird Bath.” Redman then returned during set two for “Educated Guess,” “Professor Wormbog” and “Ringo.” Last night’s set also saw guitarist Jake Cinninger take up the keys on “Nothing Too Fancy,” and featured a cover of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” during the encore.

Umphrey’s McGee will head back to the Beacon Theatre tonight for the second of two sold out shows.
