Mike Porcaro, longtime bassist for Toto, passed away yesterday at the age of 59. Porcaro battled with Lou Gehrig’s Disease for the last several years. He previously retired from touring in 2007 and was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s in 2010.

Porcaro joined Toto following the success of their 1982 effort Toto IV and performed on the remaining albums until he left the group following his diagnosis. The remaining members of Toto toured in support of Porcaro in the years that followed.

Along with Toto, Porcaro also collaborated with Boz Scaggs, Joe Walsh and toured with Seals & Crofts.
