Soulive carried on with night six of their eight night run as a part of their annual Bowlive residency at Brooklyn Bowl. The group played a two set show that featured guest spots from the likes of George Porter Jr. and Anders Osborne as well as trumpet player Maurice Brown and Questlove.

In the first set, the group was joined by Porter Jr. on a trio of Meters tunes including “Pungee,” “Keep on Marching” and “He Bite Me (The Dragon).” Osborne joined the fold in the second set for his own “On the Road to Charlie Parker” as well as “Pleasin’ You” and “Back Together” before Soulive, Porter Jr. and Osborne teamed up for a cover of “After Midnight.”

The centerpiece of the second set came with the start of Neil Young’s “Ohio” featuring Osborne, Porter Jr. and Maurice Brown. The jam led into Pink Floyd’s “Breathe” and another choice Young cut in “Down By the River.” The set closed with a take on Grateful Dead’s “Bertha” and The Meters’ “Africa” with Questlove jumping on the drum kit. An encore of another Meters tune, “Ain’t No Use,” closed the show.

Soulive returns to the stage tonight with George Porter Jr. and The Shady Horns along with opener Erik Deutsch and the Jazz Outlaws.
