The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach will release a new solo album with his new project, the Arcs, as Rolling Stone reports. The first release will come in the form of two “boxing-related” songs, “Stay in My Corner” and “Tomato Can,” due out on May 2, the day that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are scheduled to fight.

The album, which as of now remains untitled, is due out later this summer. “It was cut really quick in a week and a half, two weeks of recording,” Auerbach tells Rolling Stone. The guitarist also says he recorded with “a whole bunch of different people—my favorites.”

Auerbach also gave a nod to the Grateful Dead for inspiration, saying, “I just wanted to do my thing and get extra weird. I wanted everything to flow [and] be cohesive. A lot of the songs bleed one into the other, a lot like the Grateful Dead – my favorite records that they did. So I’ve got a lot of connected songs.”

Before the album is released, however, Auerbach will return to the road with Patrick Carney and The Black Keys as the band recovers following Carney’s serious shoulder injury.
