Warren Haynes has unveiled “Is It Me or You,” a new track from his forthcoming album Ashes and Dust, via Rolling Stone. Like the rest of the record, the song finds Haynes backed by Railroad Earth.

Haynes tells Rolling Stone that the tune was written in the 1980s about a friends who was “in a downward spiral at the time…He had actually reached a place where he was blaming everyone but himself. And we were so close, and my life was moving in a positive direction and his was moving in a negative direction. And it was a lot of guilt trip going on, causing me to question my own motivations. You know, how it is when you care about someone.”

Haynes also told the publication that, “It’s always been an extremely personal song to me and I always wanted to record it but never felt like I had the right reason.” However all of that changed when he worked on the track with Railroad Earth.

As previously reported, Haynes will team up with Railroad Earth for a series of tour dates this summer. He has also announced a couple of shows with a new project called the Ashes & Dust Band.

Ashes and Dust is due out on July 24 via Concord Records.
