Dave Matthews Band once again got some help from a special guest on their summer tour, as the lengthy jaunt rolled into Bonner Springs, KS last night.

New Orleans trumpeter Nicholas Payton joined Rashawn Ross and Jeff Coffin in the DMB horn section for a trio of tunes in the second set. First up, Payton offered his trumpet to “The Dreaming Tree,” which has made a resurgence as of late on this tour. He then jammed with Coffin, Ross and the rest of the band on a lengthy “Jimi Thing” before closing out on the more bluesy “Captain.” This was the first time the Busted Stuff cut has been played since 2013.

Other highlights from the show included a cover of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House” with vocals from The Lovely Ladies. The Ladies seem to be a fixture on the tour now, also singing on “Save Me,” “Write a Song” and “Everyday.” The band closed the show with the tour debut of “Pig,” one of the Before These Crowded Streets standouts.

DMB’s tour continues tonight in Maryland Heights, MO.
