“Now I get to live out one of my dreams,” Dave Grohl said to a packed Citi Field crowd in New York City on the Foo Fighters’ second of two nights. Sitting from atop his rock and roll throne that protected his broken leg, Grohl welcomed out members of Washington DC seminal punk act Bad Brains.

Darryl Jennifer and Dr. Know added bass and guitar, respectively, to a pair of their originals towards the end of the Foos’ 27-song set. The band broke out into a fiery version of “How Low Can a Punk Get” before busting out “The Regulator” from the band’s self-titled 1982 debut effort.

Additional highlights from the show included acoustic takes on “My Hero” and “Times Like These,” as Grohl used crutches to get out to the center of the stage with guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett. The accomplishment across the board was Grohl’s dexterity on guitar even with the broken leg and abbreviated set up, as he routinely took solos on tunes like “Outside” (which is originally played by Joe Walsh in the studio) and others.

Foo Fighters’ tour continues this weekend when the band headlines Boston’s Fenway Park.
