Rumors are circulating that My Morning Jacket will back Roger Waters during the Pink Floyd icon’s headlining set at the Newport Folk Festival tonight. Brooklyn Vegan has pointed out an Instagram post that suggests the Kentucky rockers—who have collaborated with Waters in the past—will be performing at the festival. Additionally, MMJ frontman Jim James has been spotted on site at Newport’s Fort Adams State Park. The show will mark Waters first live performance since he wrapped his monumental The Wall tour in 2013.
Waters and MMJ teamed up at the Love for Levon benefit concert in October 2012. The artists paid tribute to the late Levon Helm with a rendition of The Band’s “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” as well as an ensemble cover of “The Weight” with the rest of night’s performers.
Regardless, Friday will also brings sets from Tallest Man On Earth, Iron & Wine and Ben Bridwell, Watkins Family Hour The Lone Bellow, Leon Bridges, one “unannounced” act and many more to the Newport Folk Festival.
