Phish closed out their Mann Center run in Philadelphia with one of their finest shows of the tour, including a five-song second set anchored by a 20+ minute “Twist’ and the return of “Scents and Subtle Sounds.”

In the first set, the band was as impressive with an energetic opening trio of “AC/DC Bag,” “Free” (which contained elements of “Martian Monster” yet again) and “Ya Mar.” In the middle of the set, the group opted to stretch out a pair of songs, “Cities” and “Stash.” The set rounded out with a straightforward rock version of “Birds of a Feather” as well as the more mellow “The Line” before ramping up the energy again with “It’s Ice” and “Character Zero.”

As previously stated, the second set featured some of Phish’s best playing of the tour, with staple jams in the opening “Bathtub Gin” as well as “No Men in No Man’s Land,” which continues to impress in its short time on stage.

The centerpiece of the set came in the following segment as the band uncorked a 22-minute “Twist,” followed by the first “Scents & Subtle Sounds” with the intro since the band’s SuperBall festival. The closing “Harry Hood” provided the appropriate climactic end to one of the finest sets of the tour. The band returned for a “Loving Cup” encore before exiting for good.

Phish returns to the stage tomorrow night in Raleigh, NC.
