Damon Albarn will revive his Gorillaz project for a new record due out sometime in the near future and now the musician has offered an update on the album in a new interview.

“It’s really fast, and it’s got quite a lot of energy,” Albarn said about the very early stages of creating the album. “I’ve been stuck on piano, somewhere off Broadway, for years now. I want to go somewhere completely opposite of that.”

Albarn also discussed a series of other topics, including confirming he’s squashed his beef with Noel Gallagher (“He’s hilarious”) as well as his thoughts on Kanye West (“I think he’s pretty unique”), Taylor Swift (“Remarkable, but not unique”) and playing with Blur these days. “I still try to avoid it like the plague,” he said. “But something weird happens once I’ve stepped onstage: I just have the best time. And then as soon as we get off, I say, ‘Never again.’ It’s very strange.”
