Last night at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Billy Joel treated the crowd to a slew of hits from his extensive catalogue and brought on some friends to help him out.

First up was John Mayer, who will share the same MSG stage with his Dead and Company cohorts in just over a week’s time. Mayer came on for a run of Joel’s “This is the Time.”

Joel welcomed Steve Miller to the stage a few songs later for a cover of Miller’s “The Joker,” which can be viewed above. Later in the set, Joel took a moment during “The River of Dreams” to play an interlude of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” an allusion to the Mets’ clinching of a World Series berth in their game against the Chicago Cubs last night.

For the encore, Mayer returned to the stage for “You May Be Right” before a final closer of “Only the Good Die Young.” Joel, who is a mainstay at the Garden, will play the venue again next month on November 19.
