After marking his official return to the stage last night, Phil Lesh celebrated Halloween with his group of friends at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. The ensemble moved through many Grateful Dead classics along with an impressive covers repertoire as Stanley Jordan, John Kadlecik, Jason Crosby and Tony Leone teamed with Lesh.

The night started with JJ Cale’s “After Midnight” as the first set also included CCR’s “Bad Moon Rising” before a trip of Halloween-type tunes in “Dire Wolf,” “Friend of the Devil” and a Dead Halloween staple, “Werewolves of London” which closed the set.

The Halloween theme continued to kick off the second set as the band opened with the Stones’ “Sympathy for the Devil” before “Cryptical Envelopment.” After moving through cuts like “The Other One” and “Death Don’t Have No Mercy,” the band worked in some of Hendrix’s “Voodoo Chile” in “Dark Star.” The show closed with “St. Stephen,” “Fire on the Mountain” and a “Not Fade Away” encore.

Lesh returns to the Capitol tonight.
