Hittin’ the Note started in 1992 as a black and white, 16-page newsletter for fans of The Allman Brothers Band to join together and share stories and music with each other. In the subsequent years, HTN started publishing in color, toured with the Allmans and developed an online following and an extensive merchandise operation. Now, the magazine has announced that their current issue, #85, will be their last.

“Along the way we met you and it felt like a family whenever we got together,” a post titled “Hittin’ the Final Notes” reads, referring to the touring. “It is so hard for us to let go of something that has been such a big portion of our lives.” The letter describes the magazine’s origins and growth, along with the several events and situations that make the HTN team unable to continue the magazine.

The staff will honor any remaining magazine subscriptions with credit for their merchandise, which they say will not be reordered as they “wrap up the business.” Read more here.
