Tomorrow, December 26, The Meters bassist will ring in his 68th year at New Orleans’ Howlin’ Wolf with his Runnin’ Pardners and a variety of special guests. The ensemble will perform the first Runnin’ Pardners LP in it’s entirety, their Joy Ride EP and a variety of other selections. Brint Anderson, Mike Lemmler, funky Meters/Toubab Krewe’s Terrence Houston, Dark Matter’s Khris Royal, Alonzo Bowens, Tracy Griffin, Bonerama’s Mark Mullins, Brian Graber, Papa Gros Funk’s John Gros, Doug Belote and Bruce MacDonald are among the musicians slated to take part in the festivities.

Houston and Lemmler will also join Porter for a set with The Trio at New Orleans’ Maple Leaf on Monday, December 28. The Maple Leaf hosted Walter “Wolfman” Washington’s 70th birthday bash this past Saturday, which featured Porter, Meters guitarist Leo Nocentelli, Roger Lewis, Joe Krown and other special guests.

As previously reported, Porter will close 2015 at New Orleans’ Joy Theater. He will perform as part of A Truly Funky Affair with Foundation of Funk featuring Meters drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, Cyril Neville and The New Mastersounds’ Eddie Roberts and Joe Tatton. The New Mastersounds are also slated to perform.
