In a new interview with Glide Magazine, Scott Sharrard provided an update on the forthcoming Gregg Allman LP. Sharrard, who plays guitar in Allman’s band, says the group has time booked at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals with Don Was.

“Don Was attended our rehearsals and we worked up a bunch of new songs and we’re ready to go in the studio pretty much,” he said. Sharrard also noted that the whole band will enter the studio and that he has a couple of songs written with Allman that will appear on the next project.

As far as hitting the road is concerned, Sharrard said that Allman and his band plan to go out with ZZ Top for a few dates along with the return of the Laid Back Festival. In his words, “I’m not sure how many of them are public but what I understand is that we’re going to be doing a lot of double-bill tours with ZZ Top this summer. We’re definitely going to be playing some more laid back festivals. We did it in Jones Beach and it was a huge success so expect to see a few of those.”
