AEG/Goldenvoice, the production company that puts on festivals like Coachella, will bring Panorama Music Festival to New York City set to take place July 22-24 at Randall’s Park

While the lineup is still forthcoming, Consequence of Sound is reporting that the newly reunited LCD Soundsystem will headline the inaugural festival. The band is also signed on for Coachella (along with fellow reunion act Guns N Roses) and will reportedly also play FYF Fest as a part of a three-festival deal with AEG.

The move has predictably upset the organizers of Governors Ball, who will put on their event in the same space on June 3-5. Founders Entertainment partner Tom Russell told Billboard, “This is a short-sighted and disappointing solution. The city needs a long-term strategy for approving music festivals that ensures it is maximizing the economic and community impact of these events. Scheduling two same-genre festivals on top of each other like this makes it difficult for either to provide the maximum benefit to its fans, its neighbors and taxpayers.”

Panorama’s team responded to Billboard, saying that New York has 12.5 million residents who keep the various entertainment venues at capacity. Mark Shulman, the festival’s producer, added, “NYC sustains multiple music festivals and Panorama will add one additional entertainment option over the summer.”
