Gov’t Mule continued their Island Exodus event in Jamaica with a massive two-set show with guests galore. Among them, frequent collaborators Ron Holloway and John Scofield along with Jackie Greene, drummer Rocky Lindsley and The Better Half Singers.

To start, Mule ran through the first couple of songs by themselves including a “Lay Your Burden Down” that featured some of Bowie’s “Fame.” Holloway emerged to add sax to “Blind Man in the Dark” before Scofield and Holloway teamed up with Mule for “Trouble Everyday” and a sprawling “Sco-Mule” that was preceded by “Little Wing.”

To start the second set, Holloway sat in on a cover of “Tell Me Something Good” as well as “Jeep on 35.” Scofield once again emerged for “Stratus” and “Dreams” before Scofield, Jackie Greene and Rocky Lindsley (who replaced Matt Abts on the drums) performed “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl.”

The encore was a double dose of Joe Cocker as The Better Half Singers, Ron Holloway and Jackie Greene helped the band out on “The Letter” and a closing rendition of “Feelin’ Alright.”

Following Island Exodus, which wraps up this week, Gov’t Mule will take a break from the road for the time being, with their next scheduled appearance at Wanee in April.
