Legendary frontman Iggy Pop has teamed up with Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone age and Eagles of Death Metal for a secret project that will see its public debut tonight.

As The New York Times reports, Pop and Homme have recorded an album titled Post Pop Depression with a band that Homme assembled after getting a text from Pop about making music together.

On Homme’s influence on him within this project, Pop says, “You took me to a place I’d never been.” Homme replies, “This was to go where neither of us had gone before. That was the agreement. And to go all the way.”

A longtime fan of Pop’s music, Homme says, “He is the last one of the one-of-a-kinds. This is a much deserved victory lap for a man who’s not sure if he won. But he did. He may have tunneled underground for lots of that, but he still got to the destination.”

The group will make their debut tonight on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Post Pop Depression is expected out via Loma Vista in March.
