Last night, Jack White premiered the documentary American Epic, which he produced with Robert Redford and T Bone Burnett, at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT, Rolling Stone reports

The documentary chronicles a portion of the history of American music, highlighting early recording devices and the iconic musicians, genres and locations they captured, while drawing lines from the historical recordings to modern day artists. Watch a teaser for the documentary below.

American Epic, which will air as a mini-series on PBS this fall, also features performances by Elton John, Alabama Shakes, Nas and more, including The Avett Brothers and Taj Mahal, who were both on hand at the premiere.

“I’ve often remarked that music to the United States is as wine is to France,” Burnett tells Rolling Stone. “It’s one of those never-ending stories.”
