Last night at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center, the 31st annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony honored Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, N.W.A and Steve Miller during a ceremony that featured speeches, performances and an opening tribute to fellow Hall of Fame member David Bowie.

Kicking off the ceremony were David Byrne and Kimbra, who were backed by The Roots for a funky rendition of Bowie’s “Fame,” which can be viewed above. The night also included Kendrick Lamar helping induct rap icons N.W.A, The Black Keys speaking about Steve Miller’s San Francisco beginnings and lasting legacy, Sheryl Crow and Grace Potter honoring the Eagles’ Glenn Frey with “New Kid in Town,” Rob Thomas joining Chicago for part of their performance and more. Watch a video of Crow and Potter below. The ceremony will be broadcast on HBO on April 30.

Elsewhere last night, Pearl Jam got in on the RRHOF festivities by honoring Cheap Trick with a performance of “Surrender” during the band’s return to Florida at Ft. Lauderdale’s BB&T Center. The tribute came after the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” for Mike McCready’s recent 50th birthday and before the band slid into their classic “Even Flow.” Watch a video of that below.
