Animal Collective posted a statement in response to the anti-LGBT bill passed in North Carolina following their show at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC which they opted not to cancel.

“We felt that canceling our show, like many others have done in protest of this law, would be a disappointment to our fans and decided to go on with the performance,” the band said in a statement. “That being said, we don’t condone or agree with any type of bigotry or discrimination.”

The band also announced that they will be offering up two live shows, March 9 at the Fonda in Los Angeles and April 13 at the O2 Ritz in Manchester, for download to benefit Progress NC, an organization “dedicated to being a voice for forward-thinking North Carolinians who want to protect the balanced approach to government.”

All proceeds from the shows, which are offered in a pay what you want model, will go to that organization.
