The National appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night in support of their upcoming Grateful Dead tribute album, Day of the Dead, due out May 20.

The band, who curated the expansive album of 59 tracks and over 60 artists, acted as house band for much of the record, but took center stage on their own cover of the Dead’s “Morning Dew,” which they played live last night. Watch a video of the performance above.

The Day of the Dead has been previewed with several tunes released already, including Jim James’ “Candyman,” Courtney Barnett’s “New Speedway Boogie,” a “Terrapin Station” suite featuring The National and Danial Rossen of Grizzley Bear on vocals and more.

Members of The National, along with Relix and 4AD, will host an album release/listening party tonight at Brooklyn Bowl where they will DJ the entire album. Entrance to the event is free.
