Yesterday, David Gilmour was made an honorary citizen of the town of Pompei, commemorating the musician’s return to the amphitheatre of Pompeii, where he will perform today and tomorrow. The shows mark Gilmour’s first return to Pompeii since Pink Floyd’s famous concert in 1971.

As ANSA reports, Pompei Mayor Ferdinando Uliano bestowed the citizenship on Gilmour, who responded by saying, “Here in Pompei, I feel safe, as if I was at home.”
