Phil Lesh and Terrapin Crossroads hosted the inaugural Big Bass Bash yesterday featuring two sets played at the venue’s new outdoor stage.

On this day, Lesh recruited Phish bassist Mike Gordon, in town to kick off a three night run with Phish at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, to join his group of Friends along with Jackie Greene, Barry Sless, John Molo and Jason Crosby.

Together, the ensemble moved through tunes like “Shakedown Street” as well as Gordon’s “Yarmouth Road” that also featured vocals from Nicki Bluhm, who performed earlier in the day with The Infamous Stringdusters.

The rest of the first set was highlighted by a popular cover in the Phish repertoire, the Gordon-led “Funky Bitch” as well as Little Feat’s “Six Feet of Snow” featuring Andy Falco an Andy Hall of The Infamous Stringdusters. Gordon, who has covered the Little Feat tune with his various solo bands, led the ensemble through that version before “Cumberland Blues” closed the set.

Highlights of the jam-heavy second set included Gordon once again taking lead vocals on Phish’s “555” as well as singing Daniel Lanois’ “The Maker” in the middle of a lengthy “The Other One” jam before the “Not Fade Away” set closer.

Lesh and Company delivered an encore that resembled something of a third set with takes on “Uncle John’s Band,” “Brown Eyed Women,” “Deep Elem Blues,” “Deal” and “Goin Down the Road Feeling Bad” before the customary “And We Bid You Goodnight” finale.

Here’s a look at the setlist:
