Singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb and The Sway Machinery frontman Jeremiah Lockwood will sit for conversations with Relix Editor-in-Chief Mike Greenhaus and Because Jewish’s Rabbi Dan Ain in the coming weeks. Both talks will take place at New York’s (Le) Poisson Rouge as part of The Friday Night Jam speaking series, which explores the deep connection between ritual, music and faith. Lockwood will participate in the series on Friday, July 29 and Loeb will appear on Friday, August 12.

Tickets to the events include a free drink and festive snack. Each discussion will start at 7pm and conclude with an intimate performance. For his set, Lockwood—whose band often includes members of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Antibalas—will be joined by veteran Downtown musician Shoko Nagai, who has collaborated with John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Wilco’s Nels Cline and many others.

Loeb is in the area for an appearance at Jackson, NJ’s Six Flags Great Adventure as part of 90’s Fest on August 13 while Lockwood is in the midst of a weekly residency at Brooklyn, NY’s Barbes. Previous Friday Night Jam participants include Guster’s Ryan Miller, Matisyahu and Patti Smith Group guitarist Lenny Kaye.
