Last night at B.B. King Blues Club in New York, founding Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks brought his Freight Train Band into town and got some help from two guitarist on the night.

First up was bluesman Junior Mack, who came up for the standard and ABB favorite “Statesboro Blues.” Young guitar prodigy Brandon “Taz” Niederauer later joined the band for “Compared to What?” and “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.” Niederauer first turned heads in the music world after participating in one of Trucks’ Roots Rock Revival music camps in Upstate New York.

Trucks’ Freight Train Band consists of Trucks, bassist Berry Oakley Jr (son of the founding Allman Brothers bassist), keyboardist Bruce Katz, guitarist and Trucks’ oldest son Vaylor and Damon Fowler and Heather Gillis, both on vocals and guitar. Next up for the band is an August 4 show at Fairfield Theatre in Fairfield, CT.
